The $5000 Burger

January 30, 2008

Created by French chef Hubert Keller,FleurBurger 5000 FleurBurger 5000
the FleurBurger 5000 is a luxury burger served at Fleur de Lys at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay. The FluerBurger 5000 is made from Kobe beef and topped with black truffles, foie gras, and served on a brioche truffle bun with a special truffle sauce. The burger is served with a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus in imported Ichendorf Brunello stemware, which they let you keep.

Looking at their menu, some of the appetizers include burgundy escargot with garlic and parmesan gnocchi and smoked salmon raviolis with guacamole. A sample of the entrees include filet mignon with braised oxtail tortellini and slow roasted Alaskan king salmon with a parmesan and herb crust, artichokes, lemon, and capers. The FleurBurger will set you back $5k, but hey at least they send you a certificate of authenticity and some Italian Ichendorf Brunello stemware.

$1000 NYC Luxury Pizza

January 6, 2008

The New York restaurant business is a $10 billion dollar industry and Nino Selimaj, who runs six pizza restaurants in New York, is trying to take a piece of that pie by unveiling his 12 inch $1000 Luxury Pizza at his new pizzeria Nino’s Bellissima. The luxury pizza starts with a crust baked to a golden brown over a wood-chip grill and covered generously with creme fraiche. Next goes on four different types of high quality caviar, totaling 226 grams. Layer thinly sliced fresh lobster over that, garnish with red and green caviar and smoked salmon, and finish with a round of Wasabi sauce and chives.

Orders for the luxury pizza must be placed 24 hours in advance, but delivery is free. This sounds like a clever marketing gimmick for his newly opened restaurant, but New Yorker’s do love their pizza so I guess time will tell if there really is a demand for a $1000 luxury pizza.
