Chicago Spire

January 26, 2008

Currently under construction, The Chicago Spire is a super luxury skyscraper in Chicago that will hold the record of the world’s tallest all residential building. The 2000 foot skyscraper is expected to have 160 floors and offer 1200 luxury condos with a three story 52,000 square foot amenity space that includes private retail facilities, business center, library, and temperature controlled wine lockers to name a few. The condos will range in size from 600 to 10,000 square feet and prices start from $750,000 up to $40 million for a two floor luxury penthouse.

Developed by Shelbourne Development Group Inc., the Chicago Spire is estimated to be completed in late 2010 or early 2011. Donald Trump recently spoke out about the project and was quoted as saying, ‘‘The Chicago market is not good. There are many planned projects that won’t get built, and I predict this is one of them.” One thing is for sure though, The views from the top of the Chicago Spire would undoubtedly be incredible.

Funny the Donald should speak out… BTW, whatever happened to his first apprentice who was supposed to be doing a building project in Chicago?

He left the Trump Organization after his 1 year contract was up and before the project was completed. Now he’s a host of a talk show on NBC with another former 1st season apprentice, I cant remember her name though. His book was a good read imo, I recommend reading it if your interested in entrepreneurship etc. I bought it for like $5 at Barnes and Noble. You’re Hired: Bill Rancic

That is a beautiful building inside and out. I believe the housing market will eventually rebound so even if this plan is taken off the shelf, perhaps they can revisit it again at a future date.

Got something to say?
